FROM VISION TO REALITY: ST PAUL’S NAKONDE BUILDS 55-SHOP COMPLEX

NAKONDE – UCZ ST PAUL’S: 25/03/2026- The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) St Paul’s Congregation in Nakonde has embarked on a significant investment project aimed at enhancing economic sustainability and community development, in line with the UCZ Synod investment policy.

The project, known as “St PAUL’S” involves the construction of a modern trading complex on strategically located church land near the Customs compound. Once completed, the development is expected to comprise 55 shops, an ablution block, and a borehole, with full completion targeted for December 2026.

According to progress reports, 22 shops have already been completed and are fully operational, providing business space and income-generating opportunities.

Meanwhile, 18 shops are at approximately 90 percent completion, while the remaining 15 shops have reached slab level, marking steady progress toward the overall goal.

In addition to the shops, the project has made strides in improving access to water within the community. A borehole has been successfully sunk, and a water tank installed, with a water kiosk now operational. Residents are able to access clean water at a fee of K2 per 20 litres, with a dedicated worker employed to manage water sales and associated services.

Meanwhile, construction of the ablution block is also progressing well and is expected to be completed by May 2026. The structure has already been roofed, with remaining works including installation of doors, plumbing, electrical wiring, plastering, and painting.

Church leaders have described the project as a practical expression of stewardship and a commitment to empowering both the Church and the surrounding community through sustainable investment initiatives.

The St Paul’s investment project stands as a model of how congregations can actively participate in development, generate income, and respond to community needs while advancing the broader mission of the United Church of Zambia.
