KITWE – UCZ UNIVERSITY: 17/05/2026-“Carry your integrity into every space you enter,” the UCZ General Secretary urged as graduates were called to uphold character and purpose in a changing world.
The United Church of Zambia University on 15th May 2026 held its 72nd Graduation Ceremony at its grounds in Kitwe, with a total of 165 graduates conferred with various qualifications across multiple disciplines.
Graduates were drawn from a wide range of programmes, including skills certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degrees in fields such as education, theology, social work, agriculture, counseling psychology, and skills-based training.
Speaking at the ceremony, UCZ General Secretary Rev. Dr. Chipasha Musaba challenged the graduates to uphold integrity and purpose as they transition into the world of work. “Your qualifications will open doors, but your character will determine the kind of impact you make,” he said, urging them to remain anchored in God’s mission and to contribute meaningfully to society.
Meanwhile, UCZU Vice Chancellor Prof. Jonathan Kangwa emphasized the need for professionalism rooted in ethical conduct.
“Professionalism demands that we not only excel in our fields, but do so with honour, humility, and responsibility,” he said, cautioning graduates against corruption and encouraging them to remain steadfast in doing what is right.
Speaking at the same event, Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Mr. Lawrence Mwanza, who graced the occasion as Guest of Honour, commended the University for offering practical and relevant programmes tailored to empower young people. He urged graduates not to limit themselves to white-collar employment but to utilize their acquired skills to create opportunities and generate wealth.
“As government, we remain committed to supporting empowerment. Do not limit yourselves use your skills to transform your lives and communities,” he said.
