1,160 TEACHERS, 140 NEWLY BADGED — UCZ SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER’S NATIONAL CONFERENCE CLOSES WITH A CALL TO “KEEP THE FLAME BURNING”

LIVINGSTONE – HILLCREST TECHNICAL SECONDARY SCHOOL: 25/04/2026- The 2026 United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Sunday School Teachers National Conference officially came to a close on 26th April 2026, with a strong call for renewed commitment and spiritual endurance among participants.

The closing sermon was delivered by UCZ Synod Bishop Festus Chulu, under the theme “Keep the Flame Burning.”

In his message, Bishop Chulu encouraged teachers to remain steadfast in their calling, describing them as “moving altars” whose strength is rooted in God. “The secret of your strength is entirely dependent on God. You are designed in a very special way designed to burn,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Bishop urged participants to draw encouragement from their spiritual journey, reminding them that their calling carries purpose and impact. “As you go out there, encourage yourself that there is someone who started something in you. We are all called differently,” he noted.

And in a heartfelt appeal, Bishop Chulu emphasized the responsibility teachers carry in mentoring children, urging them not to lose momentum. “For the sake of those children you are mentoring… don’t give up. Keep on moving and keep the fire burning,” he said.

The conference concluded with the badging of 140 new Sunday school teachers, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the church’s teaching ministry.

A total of 1,160 Sunday school teachers from across the country attended the conference, reflecting strong national participation and commitment to children’s ministry.

Following the conclusion of the event, participants have since traveled back and safely arrived in their respective Presbyteries.
