The UCZ Health Department, headed by Rev. Emmanuel Bwalya, is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the Church’s health services across the country. The department exists to provide quality curative and preventive healthcare while witnessing to God’s love for all people, regardless of their economic, religious, or ethnic background. Priority is given to serving the poor and communities within the catchment areas of UCZ health facilities.
The department promotes an integrated health service delivery model that balances curative, preventive, and primary healthcare. All services are provided in line with the ethical principles of the United Church of Zambia and in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Zambia, particularly the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, as well as non-governmental organizations, other church health providers, and international partner churches.
The UCZ Health Department oversees a network of hospitals, rural health centres, peri-urban clinics, and health posts serving thousands of people nationwide. These include Mbereshi Mission Hospital, Mwandi Mission Hospital, Arthur Wina Memorial Hospital, Chipembi Rural Health Centre, Jagaimo Rural Health Centre (located within Maheba Refugee Camp), Kafue Rural Health Centre, Masuku Rural Health Centre, Njase Peri-Urban Clinic, and nine health posts developed through support from USAID Discover Health.
