REV. BRANOLD BOWA SINYANGWE DIES

KALULUSHI– UCZ COPPERBELT PRESBYTERYL: 12/12/2025

The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) announces the passing of Rev. Branold Bowa Sinyangwe, who died in the early hours of 12th December 2025 at his residence in Kalulushi, Zamclay, after a battle with cancer. The funeral gathering is being held at his home in Kalulushi.

Rev. Sinyangwe, born in 1944, lived a long, devoted life of service to the church, the nation, and the communities he shepherded. His faith journey began early—he attended Senga Hill Mission School before being baptized in 1955 by the late Rev. John Sikazwe.

His calling to serve took shape soon after, leading him to Kitwe Teachers Training College, where he trained between 1964 and 1966. He spent a short period teaching at Chansa Primary School in Mansa, before finally yielding to his ministerial calling

In 1968, he enrolled at The UCZ Theological College (now UCZ University), preparing for a lifelong ministry that would span provinces, congregations, and even international borders.

He was first deployed in Kasama in 1971, serving the Luwingu and Mungwi areas. He served as Presbytery Treasurer and Lay Preacher Trainer for Northern Presbytery in the mid-1970s.

Rev. Sinyangwe served in various parts of the country, including Isoka, where he became the first Presbytery Moderator(Bishop) of the now Muchinga Presbytery. His ministry later took him back to Kasama, then to Ndola’s Kabushi Congregation, and eventually to the Copperbelt, where he served faithfully in multiple congregations.

His ministry also extended beyond Zambia. In 1989, he served as a missionary in London, continuing to preach the Gospel with humility and conviction. He later returned to Zambia, taking up roles such as Stewardship Director, and later attending the Corat Senior Church Administrators’ Course in Kenya in 1993, further strengthening his administrative leadership.

Rev. Sinyangwe continued serving in congregations such as Ndeke in Kitwe and Kalulushi West, before being appointed Interim Chaplain at the UCZ Theological College in 2004. That same year, after 34 years of unbroken service, he retired.

His favorite Scripture was Acts 17:28:

“For in Him we live and move and have our being.”

He also cherished *Hymn No. 78 — When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder (Apwakete na mashina).

Rev. Sinyangwe will be remembered as a steadfast minister, a humble servant, and a spiritual father to many across generations.

On behalf of the entire United Church of Zambia, The Synod Bishop sends heartfelt condolences to the Sinyangwe family and to the church at large, praying for God’s comfort and peace during this difficult time.
